The next big Speech.
In his Address to the Joint session of Congress, Trump made many remarks on several topics. He announced that in order to reduce Bureaucracy in the federal agencies they built up a task force in every federal institution. This is a bit paradoxical in my view since it will create more Bureaucracy in the agencies because they have to find out which parts of them are needed or not. Also, he told the Legislative branch that there are no new Hirings in all non-military Agencies as long as they are not being needed. He emphasized the importance of the coal workers. Or, to say it in another way: The ones who destroy the Environment in the name of “America First!”.
Another Topic regarding the economy is Taxes:
Right now, American companies are taxed at one of the highest rates anywhere in the world. My economic team is developing historic tax reform that will reduce the tax rate on our companies so they can compete and thrive anywhere and with anyone. (Applause.) It will be a big, big cut.
~Donald J. Trump in his first address to Congress on 28/02/2017
For me, this rose the question: Is this true?
So let’s have some look on statistics:
We can see that the US is below OECD average (the black line). This doesn’t mean that the US doesn’t have a high tax rate but it means that the US doesn’t tax so much of its GDP. This could be because for Companies it’s not attractive to be in the US because the Tax rate is high. So I think Trump is right here (Note: I’m not quite sure about this. If this isn’t right please tell me).
Trump was criticized by Military officials on being not serious enough about military operations. Ironically, Trump invited the widow of a soldier who died in one of the first operations he approved as President.
Executive Orders and other Legislation
Two executive Orders were passed: The first one will lead the ” Waters of the United States” Act being reviewed and in the end maybe repealed. This will make the US a less life-worthy place by polluted waters and thus polluted farming lands and thus polluted food.
The other one was about the Historically Black Universities and Colleges. It created a board of advisors who shall control these Universities. Officially to bring them growth and a greater capability. Will this lead to discrimination against African Americans?
Hey, it’s Jeff Sessions again: As well as last week and three weeks ago he is under pressure: As well as Michael T. Flynn (who resigned in Week Four) he is said to have connections to Russia. Is he the first secretary to step down?
Since this is more frequently seen: Jon Bochy will join me as author on this site. He will sometimes take over this weekly Post but will contribute more detailed articles between the Fridays. I hope you like his style of writing!
This week’s article is a bit short since I’m in a hurry. Hope you like it beside it!
